What professional development opportunities are available to me as a member?

NJSSNA sponsors an annual conference focused on school nursing practice and issues. It also provides topical workshops (e.g., diabetes, asthma), offers sessions at the annual NJEA Convention, and provides other professional development upon request. In the future, the association will sponsor a speaker’s bureau and plans to design web-based modules to help school nurses complete mandatory continuing education requirements.

NASN hosts an annual conference each year and piloted hosting a regional conference in 2015.  NASN develops online courses and launches them in the NASN Learning Center.

Visit the Continuing Education section of this website for more information about these opportunities.

How can I serve on a committee?

Contact any executive board member to request to serve, attend any monthly meeting to meet the board and see how to serve, and/or email a request to njssnaexecutivedirector@gmail.com or call the NJSSNA office at 609-233-2466.

What is the correct way to list my nursing credentials?

NASN recommends highest earned degree, mandated requirements (i.e. licensure), state designations or requirements, national certifications, awards and honors, other certifications.  If highest earned degree is not in nursing, then highest nursing degree may be included after highest earned degree. Example: MEd, BSN, RN, APN, NCSN, FNASN.  Check your member profile on NASN's website to see how your credentials are listed in our database. [Login required]

Can I pay my dues in installments?

NJSSNA/NASN members can pay their dues in one annual payment or in quarterly installments. This is called the Billing Frequency. If a member selects quarterly billing frequency, the annual dues plus an annual fee of 5% is spread out over the membership year. NASN will automatically charge the member's credit card every three months for a portion equal to one-fourth of the total amount. The automatic payments will continue into the next membership year unless the member notifies NASN to terminate the dues.
