  • Workshops at Monmouth University

    PEDIATRIC EMERGENCY CARE                                                       3 contact hours for nurses will be awarded.

    Date: Thursday, April 6, 2017              Time: 5:30pm – 8:30pm

    Fee: $60/$40 for MU Students   (A light dinner is included in the program fee.) 

    The instructor will present an overview of conditions that require pediatric emergency care. Focusing on body systems, a review clinical findings will be highlighted. Goals and strategies for treatment will be reviewed. An emphasis will be on cases that should not be missed and how to identify the sick child in all healthcare settings.

    DIABETES MANAGEMENT IN THE SCHOOL AGE CHILD                     3 contact hours for nurses will be awarded.

     Date: Wednesday, April 26, 2017       Time: 5:30pm-8:30pm  

    Fee: $65/$50 for MU Students (A light dinner is included in the program fee.)                                                   

    From gym class to glucose monitoring, this program is designed to provide guidelines for the management and support of the school age child with diabetes. A focus will be on the techniques used to balance insulin and nutritional needs with school activities. Acute and chronic complications will be discussed as well as prevention and health promotion strategies. Current references and resources will be provided.

     Presenter: Lauren Dorman, MS, RD, CDE is a Certified Diabetes Educator and Registered Dietitian

    SUBSTITUTE SCHOOL NURSE WORKSHOP                                      5.5 contact hours for nurses will be awarded.

     Date: Wednesday, May 17, 2017         Time: 9:00am-3:30pm                                                                                       Fee: $90 (A light lunch is included in the program fee.)                                
    Substitute Nurses are needed in many school districts! This class is designed to present an overview of the responsibilities of the Substitute School Nurse. The Instructors will introduce key areas specific to the care of the child in the school setting.
