NJSSNA and NASN - A Unified Membership Structure
The New Jersey State School Nurses Association (NJSSNA) has agreed that members of the organization must belong to both NJSSNA and the National Association of School Nurses, Inc. (NASN). Membership dues are collected and managed at NASN national headquarters.

When and where are NJSSNA meetings held?
Monthly meetings are usually at the NJEA Building in Trenton. A dinner meeting is held in May each year to honor retirees. Go to the Meeting Calendar on this website for a list of upcoming meetings. [Login required]
What professional development opportunities are available to me as a member?
NJSSNA sponsors an annual conference focused on school nursing practice and issues. It also provides topical workshops (e.g., diabetes, asthma), offers sessions at the annual NJEA Convention, and provides other professional development upon request. In the future, the association will sponsor a speaker’s bureau and plans to design web-based modules to help school nurses complete mandatory continuing education requirements.
NASN hosts an annual conference each year and piloted hosting a regional conference in 2015. NASN develops online courses and launches them in the NASN Learning Center.

How can I serve on a committee?
Contact any executive board member to request to serve, attend any monthly meeting to meet the board and see how to serve, and/or email a request to njssnaexecutivedirector@gmail.com or call the NJSSNA office at 609-233-2466.
What is the correct way to list my nursing credentials?
NASN recommends highest earned degree, mandated requirements (i.e. licensure), state designations or requirements, national certifications, awards and honors, other certifications. If highest earned degree is not in nursing, then highest nursing degree may be included after highest earned degree. Example: MEd, BSN, RN, APN, NCSN, FNASN.
How do I find my NJSSNA/NASN website username and password?
Use the same username and password for the NJSSNA and the NASN websites. Use your email address and a password you create. The first time using the new login, click the "reset password" link to create a new password. If you do not receive an email to create a password, do NOT create a new account. Contact NASN for support at nasn@nasn.org. You may need to have your email address updated.
When will I receive my membership card?
Membership cards are mailed regularly and arrive in approximately four weeks of the date dues payments are received.
Can I print a copy of my membership card?
Yes. A digital membership is in the my.nasn.org area of the NASN website Select the overview tab, click on the word MEMBERSHIPS and look for the membership card download button.
How do I find my NASN ID or member number?
The NASN ID is printed on your membership card and can be found in the my.nasn.org profile on the overview tab.
How do I get a membership dues receipt?
A membership receipt can be found in the my.nasn.org profile under purchases.
How do I get a membership dues invoice?
If you need an invoice, submit a membership application and purchase order to the NASN membership department. Contact the membership department for more information membership@nasn.org.
Will I receive a membership dues renewal reminder?
Yes. Members will receive an email message approximately two months prior to the expiration date.
How do I update the payment method for my automatic membership payment?
Yes. Go to the my.nasn.org area of the website. Select the purchases tab and then the payment method option. If you need assistance, contact the department at membership@nasn.org or call the toll-free number 1-866-627-6767.
How do I renew my membership dues?
Visit the dues renewal web page on the NASN website for options.
Does NASN accept purchase orders?
Yes. When paying a membership dues renewal with a purchase order, print a membership application and send it to NASN with the purchase order.
How do I update my contact details?
Go to the my.nasn.org profile and update your contact details. The update will display in the NASN website profile. Please note that there may be a slight delay in the updates showing in the website profile.
When will I receive my first journal in the mail?
NASN members can expect to receive their first issue of The Journal of School Nursing or NASN School Nurse approximately six weeks after joining.
Can I pay my dues in installments?
Yes. Members can select annual or quarterly installments when they join or renew their membership. An annual fee of $5 spread out over the membership year is applied to quarterly installments. Automatic payments are charged to the credit card on file with NASN and continue into the next membership year unless the member notifies NASN to terminate the dues.
Can I change my billing frequency from annual to quarterly?
Yes. Members can change when they renew their membership.
How do I change my membership category, i.e., change from an Active member to a Retired member?
Category changes can be made when members renew their membership.
I have moved to a different state. How do I change my state or NASN Affiliate?
Affiliate changes can be made when members renew their membership.
How do I cancel my membership?
The NASN Membership Department will need to make this change. Contact the department at membership@nasn.org or call the toll-free number 1-866-627-6767.
How do I access journal articles online?
NASN's publisher, SAGE Publications, Inc., manages a website where NASN members can read full-text articles from The Journal of School Nursing and NASN School Nurse. To gain access to online articles, NASN members will need to register or sign in on the SAGE Publications, Inc. website and then activate their NASN society account using their NASN ID. Learn more.
Does NASN offer scholarships?
Yes. The Endowment Education Scholarship is for professional registered school nurses or school nurse educators pursuing post baccalaureate certification or graduate degrees. The Advocacy Education Scholarship is for school nurses participating in an advocacy education program. The RN to BSN Education Advancement Scholarship is for registered nurses employed in schools to advance their education. The New Member Scholarship is for a new, active member attending the NASN annual conference.
How do I obtain Sight for Students® gift certificates for my students?
NASN members must use the online enrollment form to enroll in this program with VSP Global®.
