The following announcement is posted on behalf of Dorian Vicente, MSN, RN,  NJ-CSN  President NJSSNA *******************************************************************************************************************************
Dear NJSSNA Members,

It is my honor and privilege to have been installed as your new President of NJSSNA on May 21, 2019 at our annual general membership meeting dinner. I am grateful to work with a fantastic group of highly intelligent, professional & dedicated school nurse board members. I would like to take this opportunity to formally introduce myself for those who may not know me and tell you a little about myself.

I was born and raised in Bergen County New Jersey and currently live in Morris County. I have been married for 29 years to a wonderful man and have two great sons ages 23 & 27. I have been a Registered Nurse for over 32 years with a MSN in Nursing Education from Thomas Edison State University, a BSN from Jacksonville University, and obtained my School Nurse Certification from New Jersey City University. I currently practice in a middle school located in Montville NJ and have worked there for the past 14 years. Prior to becoming a school nurse, my nursing background was in maternal child health, occupational health, camp nursing and nursing education. I am a current AHA CPR instructor as well.

I previously served as NJSSNA Legislative Chair, President Elect of NJSSNA, and volunteered on many committees over the years. I also served on the Morris County School Nurses Association as President, 1st & 2nd VP, Treasurer, and Corresponding Secretary. Like many of you, my passion for school nursing led me to become more involved with my professional organizations, to learn more, educate others, and to be able to provide the best evidence based nursing care possible for the students. This being said, there are many opportunities for all members to help out on our committees that support our organization and no job is too small! Every member is valued and every little bit helps!

I look forward to leading our organization and working with NJSSNA members as we continue to support and advocate for school nurses across the state of New Jersey and the school communities that we serve. We will continue to send out updates through our constant contact email and please continue to look at the NJSSNA.org website for our contact information, updates in legislation, calendar, events, and other forms of communications such as videos, and NASN info.

Have a wonderful, safe, healthy, and relaxing summer!

Regards,

Dorian Vicente MSN, RN, NJ-CSN
