NJSSNA Announces New Executive Director

NJSSNA is happy to announce Marie Sasso BSN,MEd, RN, CSN-NJ as our new executive director effective October 1, 2018.  Mrs. Sasso has worked as a certified school nurse at Lakeview School in Denville until her retirement in 2016. She was actively involved in the Morris County School Nurse Association serving as President in 2004.  She is regarded as a resource and mentor to many school nurses and has presented on topics such as Substitute School Nursing, Nursing Services Plan and Individualized Health Care Plans.

Mrs. Sasso earned her BSN from Seton Hall University and her MEd.from Cambridge College. Her experience outside of her school nursing practice includes acute care experience at University Hospital in NY and Overlook Hospital in Summit.  She has worked in both community and public health. Mrs. Sasso continues to volunteer in many capacities including the Morris County Medical Reserve.

The Association is fortunate to have her as our new executive director supporting our mission:  “Seeking to improve health and educational outcomes for children and youth by building the capacity of school nurses to promote school and community wellness and deliver high quality health care in the school setting.”  Mrs. Sasso may be contacted via our website at NJSSNA.org or directly via e-mail at njssnaexecutivedirector@gmail.com.

Marie will be a great addition to the NJSSNA Executive Board and their progressive agenda for school nurses. Calm, quiet, resourceful and an extremely knowledgeable professional, she will add experience and leadership to this group of dedicated nurses. Good luck Marie.
